Crispin & Borst Awarded £6.8 Million Contract to Construct Performing Arts Centre at Royal Russell School, Croydones
The London region of Crispin & Borst Limited (part of VINCI PLC) has been awarded a £6.8 million contract which includes the construction of a three-storey building at the Royal Russell School in Croydon to house a cutting edge performing arts centre. The contract also involves the construction of an extension to the existing catering facilities with a glazed link between the new and old buildings.
The new buildings have been designed to maintain the architectural theme of the original 1920’s Aston Webb buildings which are situated within a parkland setting. The entrance foyer of the performing arts centre features a helical stair which winds its way to the upper floors. The building has been acoustically designed to provide bespoke individually shaped music rooms, recording studios and a central theatre for concerts and plays produced by the students.
Architect: Barnsley Hewitt Mallison
