Ringway (£409 million sales)

Ringway is the UK's largest supplier of road signs and has extended the use of the specialist technology required to the vehicle conspicuity market, supplying the emergency services, as well as the Highways Agency, with high visibility markings for their vehicles. Ringway has enabled UK clients to benefit from French road technology, such as UL-M, the Eurovia thin surfacing and Gripfibre, which uses cold technology to deliver an excellent road surface with an environmental footprint significantly lower than hot alternatives.

An illustration of the breadth and depth of Ringway's capabilities can be seen in the introduction of congestion charging in London: Ringway provided and installed the necessary road surfacing, road markings and traffic signs, installed the CCTV system that provides number plate recognition, and managed the project at street level to ensure it was delivered on time.

Ringway had a reputation for cooperative working long before it became fashionable, understanding that as well as seeking cost-effective providers, clients are looking for real value. Getting close to clients and seeking to work together for the long term benefit of the client's customers has always been important to Ringway, whether the client is local or national government, a residents association, or one of Ringway's competitors looking for value-adding specialist services.
